Who We Are

 Reverend David Harting is a graduate of Asbury seminary and has been a pastor in the Kentucky Conference for 22 years. The Temple is his fifth church appointment. Pastor David and his family have been in Russellville since July 2023. His family includes wife Bren; 3 adult children, Tyler, Landon and Bethany; 4 children at home - Hope, Noah, Emily and Jack. Pastor David is also the proud papaw of Grayson and has another Grandchild coming in August. Even though his life is busy, he finds time to garden, landscape, and play Fantasy football. And when the weather is right, Pastor David loves to fish. 

 Susan began playing piano and organ for services at the United Methodist Temple in 1974. After marrying Brian in 1987, they moved to Holy Loch, Scotland where Susan started a choir and played for services at the US Navy Chapel, and played the piano and organ for various church services and weddings throughout the area. Upon returning to the States, Susan developed the music program for the newly formed Kings Bay UMC in St. Mary's, GA. After several years of playing and singing at Sparta First UMC in TN, Susan returned home to Russellville in 1998 where she renewed her service as Organist at the UMT. She has been our Music Director since 2022 and has accompanied the deGraffenried Chorale since 2011. Susan and Brian have three adult children who continue to each participate in church music. Susan holds a B.S. Degree in Accounting from WKU, and an MBA degree from Brenau University. 

 Chloe Nichols is our Co-Director of Children's and Youth Ministry. Chloe has worked in various ministry and educational settings over the past decade. She is also the 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Lewisburg in the Logan County School District. Chloe has a passion for helping youth navigate their formative years and works to encourage them to seek and follow God's paths for their lives, live by His Word, and serve as a light to those around them. Chloe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies and History with a focus in Secondary Education, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education degree for Library Media.
